South Deep Gold Mine is offering aspiring Employees and or prospective Applicants from within our Host Communities interested in pursuing a career in Engineering, the opportunity to enter into a formal Engineering Learnership programme.

Responsibilities

• Undergoing technical training as prescribed by MQA and short courses as required by the mine during the Learnership Maintain consistent performance
• Initiating developmental discussions
• Seeking feedback
• Adhering to the company`s conditions of employment, policies and code of conduct
• Abide by all health and safety rules / regulations applicable on the mine
• Promoting of teamwork and being an effective team member
• Wearing all the prescribed personal protective equipment (PPE) while on mine/ at the training centre
• Abide by the values of South Deep Gold Mine ie, safety, integrity, respect, responsibility, innovation, and collaborative delivery

Qualifications

• Be a resident of one of our Host Communities being Bekkersdaal, Zuurberkom, Thusanang, Hillshaven, Westonaria, Poortjie, Simunye, Kalbasfontein or Jachtfontein, and
• Have successfully passed the 4 x N2 Trade specific subjects as required by both the MQA and South Deep mine
• Grade 12 with Maths and Science
• Be in possession of full N2 qualifications with 4 x subjects ie, Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, N2 Rigging Trade theory and Engineering Drawing
• Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment
